If you are now working to make repairs to your home, please know that the City of Decatur is working to waive permit fees related to storm repairs.
City of Decatur’s Building Department and Community Development Department are here to serve you as we begin the recovery process. You may receive a letter from Community Development detailing how damages to your home might impact the safety of the structure. The Building Department will help you get the permits you need to make repairs, and both departments are available to help you with your questions.
Have you been approached by a contractor already? PLEASE verify that anyone performing work on your home is licensed through the City of Decatur by calling the Revenue Department at (256) 341-4546. By doing this, you help protect your family and your neighbors by using reputable contractors, who are held accountable by the City of Decatur for their work.
