Women’s Self-Defense Training

To enhance community safety, the Decatur Police Department conducts Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) training sessions for women at no cost. 

This hands-on, nine-hour course focuses on self-defense tactics and techniques. Classes are open to women and girls ages 12 and up. While sessions can be physically demanding, women of all abilities are encouraged to participate.

Gym attire is requested. Additional items to consider include athletic shoes, a water bottle, and a sweat towel.

An information form and a hold harmless agreement form must be completed and returned to the Decatur Police Department front desk for class admission.

A parental consent form, an information form, a hold harmless agreement form for minors is required for teens.

Participants will be contacted by the class instructor with location details prior to the class date.

Our next training course will be held July 6-8 with an optional simulation scenario class available June 9.  You can pick from two different times:

  • 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
