SALARY GRADE **  $91,954.52** **A starting salary above the minimum point of the assigned range may be considered commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with the City’s pay administration policies**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is management, supervisory and administrative work in the day-to-day operations of a municipal government City Planning Department. Responsibilities will include researching, gathering data, and preparing reports, presentations, publications, spreadsheets, tables and charts; review voting districts and submit findings for review; oversee, research and prepare amendments to the zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations; prepare, review and present packages for various public meetings; review census materials; develop and deliver public presentations; prepare department payroll; effectively manage department operations including budgeting and performance of assigned department personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Urban Planning and Development, Public Administration, or other course of study related to this occupational field. Graduate degree highly desirable.
• Current AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification required.
• Ten (10) or more years of city/urban planning, development, zoning experience to include management and supervision.
• Must be proficient with computers including Microsoft office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe, as well as other software programs required as part of this position.
• Must be able to effectively conduct meetings, including preparing and delivering presentations and reports.
• Must be adept and competent in public speaking and delivery of information.
• Valid Drivers’ License
• Residency within the Decatur city limits is highly desirable and preferred; not required.
