*Starting salary will be commensurate with experience within the assigned pay range.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • This position involves advanced administrative work in reviewing and maintaining building plans for compliance with technical codes and ordinances.

• Participates in the review of a variety of building plans for new construction, alterations, and repair work to determine if plans, workmanship, and materials conform to relevant building codes. Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with established codes. Maintains building plan files.

• Reviews detailed plans and specifications for building constructions, alteration, demolition, or moving compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical, and fire codes and compliance with local zoning ordinances, both for placement of building and use. Reviews residential, commercial, and industrial plans for acceptable structural strength, stability, energy conservation, sanitation, accessibility for the disabled, light, ventilation, fire standards and exits.

• Confers with architects, engineers, contractors and owners; makes recommendations of code interpretation and requirements; assists building inspectors in properly interpreting plans and specifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS • High school diploma or GED supplemented by college or trade school level course work in architecture, civil engineering, building design, or a closely related field, and considerable experience in skilled building construction or inspection trades; OR any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

• Current Certifications by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Building Inspector and a Building Plans Examiners – required upon hire and must be maintained.

• Must be proficient with computers, including Microsoft office products/software

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
