City of Decatur to Resume Recycling Service April 21 for Decatur, Morgan County Residents
The City of Decatur will resume curbside recycling service for Decatur residents on April 21, 2026, beginning with Blue Pickup Day routes. Morgan County residents will also be allowed to resume using designated recycling drop-off sites on the same day.
This phased restart follows recent repairs to the City’s recycling processing system. Additional work at the facility continues, with full operations expected to resume for all partner communities in the second week of May.

What Residents Need to Know
Recycling service will return in phases, beginning April 21.
- Service resumes for Decatur residents on Blue Pickup Day routes, and normal scheduling resumes thereafter.
- Residents who have been storing recyclables are asked to fill their carts only to the top during the first collection cycle.
- Additional materials should be phased in over the following weeks.
This phased approach will help crews manage volume and ensure a smooth transition back to full operations.
“We appreciate the patience our residents have shown during this temporary pause,” Recycling Program Director Wanda Tyler said. “We are ready to begin restarting service and will continue working to bring the entire system back to full capacity in the coming weeks.”
City officials will continue to provide updates as operations expand to serve all partner communities.
